5 Common Problems Students Face In University Life

Must read

Entering the University is an interesting chapter of life. The university experiences have life-changing impacts on most of the students. Students often say that they love to go to University as they want to learn something. Apart from learning, there are many other exciting things about University life. On one side, University life is full of charms. But, on the other side, University students have to face many problems side by side. Hence, this article will help to highlight the five most common problems students face in their University life.

5 Most Common Problems students face in University life

Too Many Lectures Per Week:

The inability to manage the burden of consecutive lectures without a break may irritate students. Many higher education types of research showed that the stress level in University students is higher than school students. In a similar study, such students complained that they could not find time for assignments due to a higher lectures load. According to a survey, about 67.27 % of the population claimed that they could not manage assignments with routine lectures.

The inability to manage homework with classwork is a common problem for students who love participating in extracurricular activities. Hence, in the tension of securing low academic scores, such students often leave the inter-college sports. And all work, no play makes such students dull, which is a big academic loss.

Another factor that affects the university life is the lack of adequate sleep. The dozen of assignments with routine lectures disturbs the sleeping pattern of students. To manage both things side by side, such students have to spend some time from their sleeping time. Yet, the lack of sleep may have many other consequences among University students. Some of them are;

  • The appearance of under dark circles
  • Improper digestion
  • Restlessness
  • Fatigue
  • Irritation
  • Exhaustion
  • Muscle fatigue

Hence, deprivation of sleep and the burden of assignments are inversely proportional to each other. The mathematical expression showing the relation between sleep deprivation and the workload is as follows;

Sd=1/Wl

Where Sd represents sleep deprivation

And Wl represents the workload

Limited Access to the I.T Facilities of the University

In most universities, the lack of necessary I.T facilities imparts many challenges in the life of University Students. Evidence suggested that some Universities do not have such facilities; still, others have I.T facilities, but they don’t allow students to use them. Having expensive technologies in the lab without giving access to the students is a common practice worldwide. Hence, the Universities should enhance the students’ accessibility to the World best technologies.

In ancient times, the warriors used weapons to conquer the World. But, in this era, no one can conquer the World without understanding technological advancement. So, the free access of students to the advanced technologies in the university life has many competitive advantages. Unfortunately, the unavailability of I.T facilities and limited access to facilities if available is an alarming situation.

The use of I.T facilities in the University classrooms effectively reduces notes making stress on the students. It can save the time of both teachers and students. The use of visual aids in the classrooms also has a great impact on the learning outcomes. So, to improve the educational standards of the students, the students must have free access to the university I.T facilities. But, in this case, the reality is opposite to the need.

In many Universities, students do not have access to spend time in libraries. This practice causes a vast knowledge gap among University students.

Apart from the physical libraries, students’ access to digital libraries is also important.  In this progressive era, the digital library is a platform where students can access even rare books. Through digital libraries, students can sometimes reach books like ‘The Birds of America’ by  John James Audubon.  Unfortunately, the lack of training of students to access the digital World of knowledge is among the five top problems of University Students.
